The startup UPYU offers work opportunities tailored to the needs of families.
FreeMOM is a full-service recruiting platform for family-friendly and free work. With their tech platform, companies gain access to untapped potential for skilled workers: mothers, fathers, family caregivers. They, in turn, benefit from more flexibility in the world of work.
At the Thuringian Regional Innovation Program TRIP, the team found the right place to go for the innovative start-up. With intensive coaching, a strong innovation network and expertise for the right business strategy, the two founders transformed their idea in the right direction.
FreeMOM pitched at the Investor Days Thuringia in 2023 and won the audience award, as well as a nomination for the Thuringia Innovation Award.
They get their first big investment directly afterwards with Tijen Onaran. Onaran is not only a successful entrepreneur, presenter and author, but is also explicitly committed to the visibility of women in business. A perfect match for FreeMom, so to speak.
Innovation needs constant rethinking: The team behind the startup knows that in order to change the narrative of female careers, we all have to think along.
Since July 2025, the company has been operating under a new name: With UPYU , they are broadening their view: compatibility is an economic success factor. Care responsibility affects millions – and there is a huge, previously untapped potential for skilled workers. For companies, this means that those who strategically integrate work-life balance open up new talent pools, increase employer attractiveness and strengthen their own future viability. With a belief in constant new development, UPYU by FreeMOM is now focusing on completely new target groups and opening up new markets.
