Endowed professorship

Web Engineering and Web Usability

Duration: 2020 - 2024

The professorship is intended to bundle the two disciplines of web engineering and web usability and thus teach and research new concepts, procedures and methods that promote the digitization of economic processes by means of Internet technologies. With its content-related orientation, the professorship supports the e-commerce degree program, which was newly established in 2013/14 and deals with electronic value creation processes and the digitization of products and services. The graduates support SMEs in the digitization of their procurement and sales processes and develop smart services around existing product or service offerings.

An essential aspect of this is to impart knowledge and methodological knowledge on the design of transformation processes. The focus is on the development of new web-based tools to support these transformation processes as well as the further development of innovative Internet technologies both in student education and in research and development activities.

With its focus on content, the new professorship complements and expands the expertise in the field of information and communication technologies that has been built up at EAH Jena in recent years in an excellent way. On this basis, research collaborations with industry have already been initiated very successfully in the past. In addition, interdisciplinary cooperation with representatives of other specialist areas of the EAH Jena has been strengthened and expanded. This development is to be driven forward in the long term with the endowed professorship initiated here.

Since 01.10.2020, the holder of the endowed professorship has been Dr. Marek Opuszko.
