Theory of Optical Systems

Friedrich Schiller University Jena has excellent expertise in the field of optics/photonics – even in an international comparison. The fact that the development of previously unknown optical systems is currently possible with completely new technologies, e.g. the use of electron beam lithography and new materials, e.g. diamond and translucent ceramics, requires highly specialized expertise for their design. This requires both outstanding theoretical knowledge and extensive practical experience in modeling. The professorship “Theory of Optical Systems” complements and strengthens the teaching and research profile of Friedrich Schiller University Jena in the research focus Optics/Photonics.
