High-visibility vests deliberately rely on bright colors. Because color increases attention and makes recognition easier. That’s why science also relies on color when something is to be marked or found more easily. But dyes do not unfold their effect equally well everywhere. For example, paint often dissolves in liquids. But there are ways to preserve dyes unchanged even in a liquid environment.
The endowed professorship “Functional Dyes, Markers and Molecular Sensors” is intended to strengthen the current scientific research priorities of the FSU Jena and thus create the basis for further joint projects. The endowed professorship is to intensify the networks that have been created in Jena for the wide-ranging field of synthesis and development of the various dye, marker and sensor molecules in order to guarantee further scientific success as far as possible.
