Fiber biosensing

The areas of application for fiber-based sensors range from the detection of traces of a wide variety of substances in gases and liquids to sensor networks for monitoring large-scale ecosystems to fiber-based optical readout methods in analytics or endoscopy, such as those used in modern tissue diagnostics. The endowed professorship “Fiber Biosensors” combines the focus areas of “Biophotonics” and “Fiber Optics” of the IPHT with its interdisciplinary research area and thus strengthens both basic research and the development of methods and instruments for the application of fiber sensor technology in the life sciences at the IPHT.
